How this works

If you don’t know what to put in a field, you can leave it blank or simply keep the recommended option next to it. The choices that are right for most journals are already selected, and a short note under each field guides you along the way.

The more you tell us, the better your pages will be. Blank fields are filled with safe, standard wording — but anything specific to your journal can only come from you. Where you can, add detail in your own words; it makes the final policies more accurate and more yours.

01 - Basic Information

The identity of the journal. These details appear at the top of every policy page.
The abbreviation used in citations and indexes. Leave blank if you don't have one.
If you haven't obtained an ISSN yet, leave these blank - we can help you apply.
You may select more than one. Most international journals publish in English only, or in their national language plus English.
Required by many indexes (DOAJ, etc.). If unsure, 2 issues per year is the safest choice. "Continuous publication" means articles are published one by one as they are ready.
Separate with commas. Used on the Aims & Scope page and in indexing applications.

02 - About, Aims & Scope

These answers form the basis of the About and Aims & Scope pages.
Recommended: International. Accepting submissions from all countries is a positive signal for indexes.

03 - Author Guidelines

For the Author Guidelines page. Every field has a safe default selected.
If not, we can prepare a Word template for you.
Recommended: a separate title page so the manuscript carries no author details for blind review. Applies to names, affiliations, ORCID IDs and emails.

04 - Plagiarism / Similarity Policy

For the Plagiarism Policy page.

05 - Peer Review Policy

For the Reviewer Guideline and review-process pages.
Recommended: double-blind - the most trusted and widely used method.

06 - Ethical Principles & Publication Policy

For the Ethical Principles and Publication Policy page. Indexes scrutinize this page closely.
COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) is the standard nearly all reputable journals build on - we recommend leaving it checked.
Current standard: use is allowed but must be clearly disclosed, and AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

07 - Price Policy

For the Price Policy page. Clarity here matters a great deal to indexes.
Charging no fee for peer review is what ethical indexes (such as DOAJ) expect.

08 - Open Access Policy

For the Open Access Policy page.
Recommended: yes. Open access is the right model for most new journals and the most advantageous for indexing.

09 - License & Copyright

For the License and Copyright pages. This is the most misunderstood and most critical part.
IMPORTANT: In open-access journals the international standard is that copyright STAYS WITH THE AUTHORS (the author keeps copyright and grants the journal a license to publish). This is what DOAJ, Scopus and Web of Science expect. Transferring copyright to the publisher restricts authors and may be viewed unfavorably. If unsure, keep "Authors retain copyright".
CC BY 4.0 is the DOAJ gold standard: anyone may use the work freely as long as they cite it.
Recommended: yes. Allowing self-archiving is standard practice.

10 - Archiving & Preservation

For the Archiving Policy page.
If you use OJS, the PKP Preservation Network is free, one-click, and sufficient for indexes.

11 - Privacy Statement

For the Privacy Statement page - standard defaults are ready and most journals keep them as-is.

12 - Publisher Information

For the Publisher page. Required in the masthead and in indexing applications.

14 - DOI & Indexing

DOI and indexing targets - for your application strategy.
If you do not have DOIs yet, we can help you register with Crossref via doiregister.com.

15 - Additional Notes

Any special rule, institutional requirement or legal note you would like included in the policy pages.
