At Open Journal System Services, we take fraud prevention and customer security seriously. To protect both our customers and our company, we apply the following procedures for all online orders and payments:

1. Payment Confirmation

• All payments are processed securely through our payment partners (Stripe, PayPal, or bank providers).

• A payment marked as “succeeded” does not automatically activate services until customer verification is complete.

2. Customer Verification

• After a successful payment, customers are required to confirm the following details via email:

  • Journal name

  • Journal language

  • Domain name (if already owned, or we can suggest options)

• If no response is received within 5 business days, the order will be placed on hold.

3. Service Activation

• Hosting and setup services will only begin once customer confirmation is received.

• We may request additional verification (e.g., reply from the registered email address, valid contact details) if suspicious activity is detected.

4. On-Hold & Cancellation Policy

• Orders without confirmation after 5 business days will be put on hold.

• If no confirmation is received within 30 calendar days, the order will be cancelled automatically.

• In such cases, no service is provided and payment may be refunded via the original payment method or returned through a bank chargeback initiated by the cardholder.

5. Fraud Monitoring

• We actively monitor fraud indicators (unreachable phone numbers, unverified emails, mismatched billing addresses, etc.).

• If an order is flagged as potentially fraudulent, we reserve the right to decline or cancel the service without prior notice.

6. Dispute Protection

• For transparency, all unresponsive orders are documented in our payment processor’s system with notes such as “Customer unresponsive, service not delivered.”

• This ensures that in case of a chargeback, Open Journal System Services can provide clear evidence that no service was delivered due to lack of customer cooperation.
